Pre-insulation
The pre-engineering and pre-fabrication of cold-formed steel components circumvents the potential for errors commonly associated with site-built elements - poorly-built jigs, cramped conditions, weather issues, inappropriate working surfaces - the list goes on.
Controlled, dedicated facilities with optimal equipment and conditions make quality control at VanderWal Group relatively straightforward, and by specifying closed-cell polyurethane spray foam insulation to be attached to pre-sheathed cold-formed steel wall or floor panels, the same peerless standard of quality control can be applied to insulation. Once the pre-sheathed, pre-insulated panels are erected on site, only any electrical/mechanical work and finishes are required to bring the panel to completion.
Eliminating an on-site trade (insulation) assists in speeding up completion of the overall project, reduces overheads for the general contractor and allows the owner to occupy the building in a more timely fashion. Closed-cell polyurethane foam has an R-value of R6 per 25.4mm (1"), and VanderWal Group recommends a minimum thickness of 89mm (3.5") to give a total insulating value of R21. An interior drywall finish together with exterior gypsum sheathing provides a fire-rated assembly for total non-combustible construction.
