Cold-formed steel modular buildings
As cold-formed steel lends itself so readily to panelization, VanderWal Homes & Commercial Group have been successful in developing modular and pre-panelized solutions for a range of applications. Using unique, proprietary software, VanderWal Group designers can readily draft any particular configuration of cold-formed steel exactly to clients' specifications.
i) Pre-finished modular residences
VanderWal Group's non-combustible, pre-engineered, pre-finished cold-formed steel modular homes are ideal for any location but were conceived with rural or remote areas (where labour can be problematic) in mind. To be used with or without a basement, the units are shipped in two halves with various configurations and layouts. Very little on-site work is required to assemble and fully weatherproof the final unit.
The units come complete with:
- Structural cold-formed steel framing
- Spray-foam insulation
- Interior and exterior finishes
- Kitchen and bathroom fittings
- Windows and doors
- Various configurations and layouts
ii) Pre-insulated, pre-engineered weather-resistant homes
Inspired by recent global events, VanderWal Group has been putting together various designs for affordable housing that will withstand the harshest weather conditions, while designing them in such a manner that they may be readily transported. A single 12.19m (40') shipping container will hold two houses. Foundations must be designed according to local codes.
The dwellings feature:
- Hot-dip galvanized structural members
- Pre-engineered, panelized cold-formed steel panels
- Connections rated for 270km/h winds
- Pre-applied closed cell polyurethane spray foam insulation
- Metal roofing and siding
- Pre-installed windows and doors
- 55.7m² (600ft²) 
- 78.9m² (850ft²)
iii) Industrial/commercial modular units
Organizations with remote locations often find it difficult to source skilled local labour when constructing facilities; with modular cold-formed steel units the required amount of construction skill is minimal, with layouts and connection details provided. Fully finished, pre-insulated units of any size and layout can be engineered for any application - guard houses, generator buildings, storage units, mechanical housing etc. Removable roof sections are offered for easy installation/removal of equipment or machinery.
As with all of VanderWal Group's cold-formed steel products, any possible configuration can be designed and engineered, and individual client specifications can be readily accommodated.
